Where the Concession Actually Gets Made

A quote applies the customer’s standing price list, then adds the concession negotiated for this deal. Keeping those two apart is what makes margin legible.

  • 01Separate Standing From DealThe price list holds the standing position. The quote owns the incremental concession.
  • 02Resolve the Price ChainEvery line resolves channel, then standing list, then the discount the rep applies.
  • 03Quote Standard OrdersRepeat-order quotes carry the customer’s list and a light approval path.
  • 04Bid Engineered ProjectsProject quotes take deeper bid-specific pricing and their own approval route.
  • 05See Margin Per LineMargin computes live for every line and for the quote as a whole.
  • 06Flag the Corridor FloorLines that fall under the floor flag as you price them, not after approval.
  • 07Guide the NegotiationTarget, floor and walk-away price per line, with the levers to trade.
  • 08Score the DealA deal score and win-probability estimate before the quote goes out.
  • 09Route What Needs ApprovalOut-of-corridor and project bids escalate. Everything else moves.

Configure, Price, Guidance, Review

A guided flow that ends in a real quote record, not a spreadsheet emailed from a laptop.

Configure

Start from the customer, and let their commercial position resolve itself.

  • Picking the customer auto-resolves their channel and their standing price list.
  • Add line items from the catalog without leaving the flow.
  • Guided selling surfaces cross-sell suggestions against what is already on the quote.

Price

Every line priced through the spine, with margin visible as you go.

  • Channel, then standing list, then the deal discount the rep applies, resolved per line.
  • Margin computes live for each line and for the quote total.
  • Lines under the corridor floor flag immediately rather than at approval.

Guidance

The part a standalone CPQ cannot do, because it does not hold your incentive data.

  • Per-line guidance gives a target, a floor and a walk-away price.
  • A deal score and win-probability estimate frame the concession being asked for.
  • Invoice margin sits next to true pocket margin, after the customer’s live rebates and SPAs.

Review

Approval, signature and a record that the rest of the platform can see.

  • Out-of-corridor and project quotes escalate; the rest route straight through.
  • eSignature closes the loop without leaving the quote.
  • Saving writes a real quote record that opens in the quote list and links to Margin Lens.

Only out-of-corridor and project quotes wait on a person. The rest route straight through.

  • True Pocket MarginA quote shows invoice margin and pocket margin side by side, net of the rebates and special pricing that customer is already earning. No standalone CPQ can compute it, because the incentive liability lives in another system.
  • One Price SpineQuotes read the same price lists, corridors and rules that govern every other channel, so the number a rep quotes and the number finance reports come from one place.

Quote Faster, Concede Less

Common questions

What is the difference between a standard quote and a project quote?

A standard quote is a repeat-order quote priced from the customer’s standing list. A project quote is an engineered bid that takes deeper, bid-specific pricing and its own approval path.

How is the deal discount different from the price list?

The price list holds the customer’s standing position, negotiated once and applied on every order. The quote owns only the incremental concession made for this specific deal. Margin Lens shows them as two separate steps so you can see which one is moving.

Does a rep see margin while they are quoting?

Yes. Margin computes live per line and for the quote total as prices change, and any line that falls under the corridor floor flags at that moment rather than at approval.

What is pocket margin on a quote?

Invoice margin less the off-invoice incentives that customer is already earning, including live rebate programs and special pricing agreements. It is the margin you actually keep once the quarter settles.

What gets escalated for approval?

Quotes priced outside the corridor and project bids route for approval. Everything inside policy moves without waiting on a person.

Is this a full CPQ?

It covers configure, price and quote, plus guided selling, approval workflow, deal scoring and analytics. Depth is deliberately concentrated on the margin-intelligence layer rather than on a deep product-configuration rules engine, which is a commodity better integrated than rebuilt.

Where does a saved quote go?

Saving writes a real quote record that appears in the quote list and links through to Margin Lens, so a quote is an object the rest of the platform can read rather than a document.

Can it price from the customer’s own list?

Yes. Selecting the customer resolves their channel and their standing price list automatically, so the quote starts from the terms they actually have.
